Tennis Team Has a Successful District Tournament

Congratulations to all the tennis players for a great season. The tennis team went to Somerville and competed in the district tournament for the past 2 days. On the JV draw Florence Mercier played singles against Normangee and lost 0-8. She then played Somerville and won 8-6. She then met up with teammate, Valerie Servando, in a 2nd place playback. Valerie took another road to the 2nd place playback.  She first played Mumford and beat her 8-2.  She then played Somerville and beat her 8-4. Valerie then played in the finals and lost 2-8. That brings us to the playback game where Valerie was able to defeat Florence 8-2. 
Blaise Parker played in her first match and lost 3-6 and 3-6. Donna Fleming took on Mumford and won 6 - 1, 6-1. She next took on Normangee and lost 1-6, 0-6. She then played for 3rd place and lost 1-6, 0-6.  Omar Hernandez and Kimmy Keally played mixed doubles and split with Somerville 4-6, 6-3, and then finished them off 6-4. They next played Normangee and lost 1-6, 3-6. They then played for third place in a 4 hour thriller. They came up short losing the match in three sets 6-7, 6-1, 6-7. In the girls doubles division Adeline Flores and Shelby Parrott won against Normangee 6-0, 6-4. They next took on Somerville and lost 4-6, 3-6. They played another Normangee team for third and came up short again losing 2-6, 1-6. The other doubles team consisted of Emily Deason and Emily Hoffart. They played Somerville and beat them 6-1, 6-2. They next were matched against the number 1 seeded team and beat them 6-1, 6-4. They next played in the final against Somerville. They beat them in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 making them the district champions of girl doubles. They will be playing in the regional tournament on the 18th and 19th in Corpus Christi.  Please wish Emily Deason and Emily Hoffart good luck at their regional tournament!!!
