Classroom Procedures

All students, junior high and high school, will follow the same procedures on a daily basis.  Changes to procedures will be noted on the board.  The planning board will have daily announcements and music selections in rehearsal order.  Students are responsible for the following:

  1. Students will be on time to class (in seat, ready to rehearse). Repeated tardiness will be dealt with in compliance with district policy.

  2. Restroom and water breaks need to be done in between classes. If you ask to go to the restroom, you will be told no.

  3. Students are expected to fully participate in class. Participation is the majority of your grades, daily and test.

  4. As soon as you walk into the band hall, go to the instrument room, get out your instrument, valve oil, music, mouthpiece, etc., put your case back in your locker, and go to your seat to begin rehearsal. Backpacks and other non-band materials can either go on the table by the double doors or in your locker if it is big enough.

  5. Get seated and set up music on your stand in the order written on the board.

  6. Mr. Debes will step up onto the podium to begin warm-up procedures. When Mr. Debes is on the podium, students will become completely quiet and ready to begin rehearsal.

  7. After the warm-up, Mr. Debes will have announcements and students with relevant questions may ask at that time. If the item has been previously addressed, students may find the answer by asking another student or Mr. Debes at the end of class.

  8. A summary of newly learned material and/or other announcements will occur before dismissal.

  9. The teacher, not the bell, dismisses class.
