Biology I Course Information and Procedures

Course Description:  This course presents the fundamental topics of Biology, the study of living things.  It is the goal of this course to help you investigate the natural world, enhance your critical thinking skills, and use the scientific method to make useful predictions about the world around us.

             Materials

  •         Pencils/pens/notebook paper
  •         Spiral notebook (one subject or larger)
  •         Binder or folder
  •         Colored pencils or markers (as needed)

LATE POLICY:    Late work will be accepted with penalty for both Academic Practice and Academic Achievement, as explained in class.  I do drop the lowest Academic Practice grade (excluding quizzes) each six weeks.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES: According to school policy, students may use NOT their electronic devices (iPods/Airpods, telephones, Smart watches) during the school day. It is expected that students will leave these devices turned off & in their backpack. Use of such devices will result in disciplinary measures.

GRADES:  Grades for each nine weeks and for semester will be calculated as per school policy outlined in your handbook.  Your average for each nine-week period will be based on the following; Academic Practice 40%, and Academic Achievement 60%.  It is your responsibility to keep track of your returned papers and test grades.  If you would like to discuss your grade, you can come in before or after school.  Please do not ask for an in-depth explanation during class time.  I will post grades regularly so that you know where you stand.
